Can I be really honest with you for a second? The home I desire – a home that is haven, full of joy and runs like a well oiled machine – is far from what my home actually looks like.
To be clear, I’m not striving for perfection but wouldn’t it be nice to not be drowning in little details?
For example all of the papers that are now coming home each day from school and making their new home on my desk have begun to explode. As a result of this physical paper overwhelm I have dropped the ball on a few recent occurrences…. Box Tops collection Week for my son’s school being one example.
And then there are the daily demands and things I desire to do to bring peace to my home, and my sanity.
I want to be in the Word daily, both by myself and with my family.
I want to make our after school hours as meaningful as possible, all while letting my kids decompress from the day.
I want to spend intentional time with my husband by flirting and letting him know how much I respect and cherish him.
Oh and don’t forget the little things of running a home like feeding my crew and making sure they have clean clothes to wear.
I’m talking about the basics here people, deep cleaning the baseboards or scrubbing that elusive spot on the hardwood floor that only appears when the morning sun shines on it, are not even a priority right now. Although remembering to clean that spot in later in the day sure would be nice! 🙂
So I’m not winning any of the awards for being a homemaking rockstar but that’s OK because it’s not what I’m striving for.
What I am striving for is creating a joyful and peaceful home for my family and focusing on the things that truly matter.
The to-do list will always be present and there are things that will always have to be done, like the cooking, cleaning and laundry (why oh why do they go through so many clothes each week?!?! I’m convinced there are people living in my house that I have yet to meet by how much laundry I’m doing on a daily basis!) 😉
While I’m not a perfect homemaker in any sense of the imagination, I have learned that the keys to a joyful and peaceful home is balance and a little intentional planning.
Sounds nice doesn’t it, but how do we actually achieve balance when we barely have the time to plan?
Are you familiar with this struggle? My sweet friends, me too!
I want to be able to use my time well so that I can focus on this things that are truly important in my day: The Lord, my husband, and my kids!
Thankfully we are not alone and there is a resource to help and encourage us as we work to bring the balance to our homemaking which ultimately results in a more joy-filled and peaceful family.
My blogging friend Jami Balmet, from Young Wife’s Guide, is in the trenches too. Along with balancing marriage and motherhood (she has four little ones and one more on the way!), keeping a homemaking routine and managing an ever growing business, she has a lot on her plate too! Which is exactly why she created a free brand new training guide called 5 Keys to Planning a Successful Day! It’s a quick PDF guide with bonus training video (and printable art print!) and it’s been helping so much.
I signed up and downloaded mine a few days ago. Right away, I was able to put to use some of her tips for immediate results, which is why I wanted to share this resource with you too!
The strategies she shares takes you through 5 keys that every homemaker should build into her day including:
- Planning the night before for a successful day tomorrow
- Picking your priorities to allow you to focus on the things that truly matter in the grand scheme of things
- How to schedule Bible reading and prayer time in your days… even when you have little ones running around and are exhausted ALL.THE.TIME!
- Giving yourself incentive for deeper motivation
- Defeating the myth that “You can do it ALL” because I hate to break it to you but you can’t
Doesn’t all that sound like a breath of fresh air? I know I’m already inhaling deep breaths of grace! For even more info, check out this sneak peak below:
So what’s all included?
This free guide comes with a 35 minute training video (I watched mine it while I folded the laundry yesterday! Multitasking at it’s finest!), a digital guide (for those who prefer to read rather than watch), and a gorgeous Scripture art print for you to print out.
Who is this guide for?
Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a working mom or a mom who works from home, this training will bless you and provide encouragement no matter what your day to day looks like.
Is it really free?
