You may or may not have noticed that I haven’t been posting my goals updates over the past few months. It was intentional because while I have had made some progress, I have been busy focusing on preparing myself, my family and home for Christmas and the arrival of our sweet baby boy. So while I haven’t been sharing my recaps, I have been working on reaching them.
I have also been thinking about how I would approach goal setting in the New Year with a newborn, a toddler and a preschooler to care for, not to mention a house to run, a husband to love and this little business to grow and nurture. To say that life is busy would be an understatement, but I love my life and am so blessed beyond measure.
In regards to 2015 goal planning, I will be taking a grace-filled approach. I do believe in the importance of creating goals that are based on a personal mission statement but I also believe in the importance of living life within your means. So that means for me in this season, instead of creating a long list of personal yearly goals, I will be creating a much shorter list of personal accomplishments I would like to achieve over the next year and focus on small mini monthly goals that will help me reach the bigger picture.
I’ll be sharing more of what that looks like in January, but for now here is one final look at my 2014 goals for your viewing pleasure 😉
2014 Goal Recap
To read my full description of my goals, you can head here.
Read the Bible daily with this reading plan on my YouVersion Bible app– I’m no longer using that plan since I got so far behind. Instead I am aiming to read one Psalm, one Proverb and one chapter from one of Paul’s letters every morning (did you see my Bible book basket?) Memorize one passage of scripture a month– You can read my new plan here. Pick one verse for 2014 to reflect on– I’ve decided to simplify my life a little. While this was a good goal and a lofty idea, it just didn’t work for me. I’ve been much for focused on memorizing my memory verse instead so this is no longer a goal of mine.
Go on one date a month– We still use Thursday evenings to grab a quick dinner. It’s nice because it’s a date and it’s one night a week where I don’t have to cook or clean! Go away on 2 overnight/weekend get-aways this year without the kids– Completed one in February. You can read all about it here. We only went on one get away but had several weekends where the kids spent the night with a grandparent leaving us some alone and rest time, so I’m counting that!
Read 4 books on marriage, one of those together – I only read two marriage books
Weekly acts of service to show love and respect
Read aloud from their storybook Bible and pray together every day Read 4 books on parenting Potty train Silas– We have now stopped using diapers all together! He is usually dry at nap time and he can go all night in a pull-up without leaking. I realize it will probably be a few years before he is fully trained at night but he hardly has any day time accidents so I’m going to say we have officially potty trained him! Spend intentional time daily playing with the kids
Keep up to date on keepsakes-I just need to finish our 2014 photobook and finish a few pages in Amelia’s baby book, not to mention start the new baby’s.
Complete 4 Weeks to Organized Simplicity Challenge in January Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules and routines– I have created a new set of routines (you can read all about them here) but everything sort of went out the window over the few months, but I’m slowly getting reclaiming my days. Keep up to date on keepsakes (overlapping of Motherhood goal above)
Call 1 friend a month- Even better, I went and visited a friend who lives out of town!
Initiate 4 get-togethers with friends- I initiated 1 in March and one in August
Focus on love and thankfulness with difficult family members
Write and send cards/letters periodically- Can I just say that I am terrible at this?
Continue participation in women’s Bible study (overlapping of Spiritual goal from above) Serve as a volunteer in the children’s ministry Provide meals to church members when needed
Focus on One Word to guide my year (this will also correspond with my verse from above)- Ditto from above 🙁
Workout 4 times a week- My new goal is to work out 3 times a week and I have done much better at meeting that one!
Read 100 books (overlapping of Marriage and Motherhood goals from above)-
Write everyday- I’ve been doing much better at trying to reach this goal.
Write and publish eBook– Guest post 1 time a month– Have posts ready 2 weeks in advance– I’m actually all planned through February at this point!
So how did you do on accomplishing your yearly goals this year?
