  1. Victoria, this is so encouraging! I have not been dealing with loss like you and I can only imagine how difficult this has been for you. Though I have been enduring a long hard season for quite some time now. I finally feel like I am in a place where I can begin to put things back together but it has been overwhelming thinking about how to do it all. This was really helpful to put that into perspective the important things that need to be taken care of first.

    1. Thanks Ashley it has been rough but I’m so thankful for my family and faith to help me get through this season. I’m so glad to hear that you feel like your’re moving out of your hard season. I’ll be praying for you as you try and regain your energy and health. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  2. What a great, God-honouring list Victoria – some great tips! Scripture is definitely a must – Having victory in any sort of tough times is all about Jesus and HIS power working in me… pretty hard to rely on His strength if I’m not renewing my mind in the Word!

  3. So true! To every single thing. Also so beautiful and sad at the same time. I’m so sorry about your dad. Prayers!

& Thanks for linking up with Lovely Thusdays!

  4. Thank you. Your list is very good and appropriate in the time of many kinds of loses. While the lose of a parent is one of the hardest, there is also the lose of a marriage, the lose of a job and even the lose of a lifetime dream.

I continue to keep you and your family in prayers during this hard time.

  5. Girl can I relate! Your list of tips is great. When my mom passed away, my son was just starting school but there was so many days I was just going through the motions. Not wanting to deal with life. Scripture and Christian music was what God used to talk to me and got me to move forward. Praying for you.

  6. Thank you for sharing. I know that I must do the five things that you said, because if I don’t, I will fall into a rut too deep. Thank you for a thoughtful and touching reminder. I am so sorry for your loss. It is wonderful that through all your grief and pain, you are reaching out to help others. Thank you!

  7. Victoria, I send my condolences to you and your family. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding wash over you. Love all the tips, I have to work on the getting dressed one. Mostly I do, but it is so much more comfortable to be in sweat pants sometimes. But when the door bell rings I scurry to get dressed in a hurry, hahaha! It has been a pleasure reading your post– pinned and shared. Blessings*

    1. Thanks Forest, and I am more then guilty of scrambling to get dressed when the doorbell rings too! Once I forgot I had my hair all pinned at the roots when a delivery man came to the door 🙂

  8. These are great tips – thanks for sharing! Too often I slide on the first one (I’m good at getting dressed… not so good at picking up my Bible). Blessings to you during this time!

  9. I definitely believe that every one of these strategies can be so helpful. I’ve been having a rough time lately with family issues and I think what I need today is a good dose of Scripture and productivity, especially!

    1. So sorry that you’ve been going through a rough season too Rachel. I’m glad to have provided a bit of encouragement to you 🙂

  10. This was a wonderful post. Nothing can really prepare you for losing a parent and the grief does sneak up on you when you least expect it.
    Thank you for sharing,
    Kelly

  11. So sorry for your loss. We’ve lost all four of our parents, although we were lucky to avoid cancer or alzheimers or anything like that. One thing that helped me was a change of scene. I just wanted to go to my husband’s family farm in Oklahoma and just have a place to be quiet and peaceful. Everyone has to find what works for them. But I do agree with your tactics. I did Flylady for many years and her advice mirrors yours just for daily productivity – get up and dress up to the shoes, exercise a little bit, play music while you work, and try to maintain consistent habits. All very healthy and helpful habits to lock into as much as possible. #SITSSharefest

  12. I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad. I appreciate your encouragement and inspiration so much, especially as you continue to move forward. I love everything about this post and the suggestions you made. Each and every one is so true. I am going through a hard season in life right now, and I have been clinging to each of these tips day in and day out to keep moving forward. Thank you for affirming others with your honesty and providing a path back to joy. Be blessed!

  13. I’m crying reading this. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for blessing me with this post. My grandma died last Tuesday. I have been swallowed by grief and have been struggling. I’m Christian and so was she but it doesn’t make it any easier. I have family who are rejoicing that she is with our Saviour, yet I am deeply grieved and feel inadequate because I am so grieved.

I am pinning this and I’m going to be mindful to put these tips to practice.

    Thank you Victoria… sincerely… I can’t thank you enough.

Blessings, prayers, and love to you.
    xoxo

    1. Oh Jennifer I am so sorry for your loss! That is heartbreaking but I’m so happy that you have the reassurance of your faith. I am all to familiar with the feeling of rejoicing yet the overwhelming sense of grief. We want our loved ones with us.

I’m glad I was able to provide a little encouragement to you as you are going through your own season of grief. Praying for you today 🙂

  15. Thank you, Victoria, for such an inspiring message! I, too, am going through a difficult time with my grandmother. She is very ill, and I live over 500 miles from her. Trips to see her are not as often as I’d like, so that in itself is taking a toll on me.

I am sorry for the loss of your father. I do not know what it is to lose someone close to me, so I cannot imagine what that might feel like. It’s good to know you are doing better, and getting back on track with our Lord as your helper.

Right now I am reading a book titled, “The Red Sea Rules” by Robert J Morgan. Just started it this past Monday, in fact. It is ’10 God-given strategies for difficult times’, and uses Exodus 14 as the foundation. I feel as though this will help you.

Thank you for sharing your tips and story with #smallvictoriessundaylinky ! May God bless you!

    1. Oh Brandi I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. It’s so hard to watch loved one get sick and it’s even harder when you can’t be there as often as you would like. Thanks for the book recommendation, I’ll have to look into that one 🙂
