Organizing Your Wardrobe {Part One}
This year let’s create a haven at home with the 52-week home project. Small, managable weekly tasks and challenges to create a space that promotes peace, inspires creativity, nurtures your family and is not only more organized but also runs with more purpose and intention.
To catch up on all the previous projects, head here.
Last Week’s Project
As the season is starting to change, it’s the right time to give our wardrobes a little bit of love by organizing, purging and creating outfits we love and feel great in. This makes getting dressed every morning super easy as it removed the decision overwhelm you feel when you look into a stuffed and overflowing closet but feel like you have nothing to wear.
We are going to break up this challenge into two weeks to really give yourself the time to examine every single piece of clothing you own.
Tedious, yes but so worthwhile! When you have a clean and organized closet filled only with clothes that fit you now and you know you look and feel great in, you are saving yourself time and money.
Project #14: Organizing Your Wardrobe {Part One}
I’ve broken the assignments up over the next two weeks to allow for plenty of time. If you are feeling especially motivated, you can tackle them all in one afternoon or you can take your time and do one section a day. The following assignments below follows the plan outlined in Simply Dressed if you want more detail and explanation.
As a note, I am talking about your personal wardrobe this week. If you have spare time and want to tackle your children’s closets you can, but spend the bulk of your time and effort on this week’s project on your own closet.
- Day 1: Pants
- Day 2: Dresses and Skirts
- Day 3: Tops, Sweaters and Cardigans
- Day 4: Shoes
- Day 5: Accessories (scarves, belts, hats, jewelry, purses)
- Day 6: Workout clothing and Pajamas
A New Project for a New Week
Each week I’ll share a new challenge to help us tackle one small area of our homes.
Some weeks it might be a deep cleaning task, some weeks it might be a decluttering task, some weeks it might be a challenge to help you create a space you love, and some weeks it might be a combination of a few different challenges.
The goal for the 52-Week Home Project is to have a home that is not only more organized but also runs with more purpose and intention and just feels more peaceful and calm.
The Next Project
Now that we have tackled half of our wardrobe, let’s tackle the other half! The following assignments below follows the plan outlined in Simply Dressed if you want more detail and explanation.
As a note, I am still talking about your personal wardrobe this week. If you have spare time and want to tackle your children’s closets you can, but spend the bulk of your time and effort on this week’s project on your own closet.
Project #15: Organizing Your Wardrobe {Part Two}
This week we are going to finish sorting through your clothing in your closet. As the weather is turning warmer, this is the perfect time to sort through your winter clothing and pull out any spring and summer clothing you have packed away.
- Day 7: The Unmentionables (your underwear drawer)
- Day 8: Winter Coats and Accessories
- Day 9: Packed up or stored clothing
- Day 10: Organizing Your New Closet
- Day 11: Putting Together Some New Outfits
- Day 12: Making a Plan for Your Wants and Needs List
