Such a great resource. I believe in intentional living and setting values and goals rather than being swept along in life.
Thanks for sharing at Essential Fridays.
Have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

I have good intentions of goal setting and love all the tools to set goals but I hardly ever get passed checking out how others do it and the resources out there to set goals. How do I make that next step. I’m a master procrastinater. It’s really been bringing me down how stuck I feel in my life now. I’m a SAHM to 3 school aged kids. Any advice is appreciated.

The best advice anyone ever gave me on goal setting was to start small. Don’t overwhelm yourself and set yourself up for failure by creating a long list of goals. Believe me, I’ve been there and I have felt horrible about myself by not completing what I initially set out to accomplish. Instead try to focus on one to two areas where you would like to work on (e.g. creating and sticking a daily routine or running a marathon). Once you think through that, don’t create any more goals. Just focus on the one or two. Then break that goal down into mini-goals.
For example on creating and sticking to a daily routine, I would break it down like this:
1. Create a morning routine of no more than 5 tasks and follow through for 3 weeks.
Once I have consistently mastered my morning routine I would add…
2. Create a list of daily/weekly cleaning tasks and follow through for 3 weeks.
Finally after I have accomplished those two goals over a period of time, I would add:
3. Create an evening routine to end my day well and prepare for the next day and follow through for 3 weeks.
The idea is that I would spend intentional time focusing on one small area of the larger goal for a period of time. Before I add on any more goals, I spend a set time trying to accomplish that. I once heard that it takes 20-30 days to create and establish a habit so that’s why I would give myself 3 weeks to establish each mini-goal.
Goal setting only works for you if you think through your priorities and create goals based off what is important to you. I hope this helps. If you check out the Goal Planning Workbook, I walk you through the process with much more detail. Thanks!

I purchased the Ebook, but can’t seem to find where to open it. It just gave a confirmation through paypal that I purchased it, yet I haven’t received an email confirmation nor an email with the download. Am I missing something?

Is there another way to download this? or a way to get it in paper copy? I do not have a printer at home. When I try to download it at work, I get a message that it may damage my computer. I work for County government, so I sure don’t want to do something that is going to get me fired!

Hi Tessa could you please send an email to [email protected]? It’s easy to handle customer inquiries that way. Thank you!
